Meet our people
Hannah Dunne
Staff Nurse – Orthopaedics
“I was a newly-qualified nurse who’d left Jersey to train as a nurse in the UK. When
I came back, I needed to adjust to the documentation that’s different to the UK’s and
also to the size of the organisation which is much smaller than where I’d trained.
“But, whilst everything here might be on a smaller scale, what really surprised me is
the sheer range of services we provide in comparison to the regions in the UK, where
most patients would still need to travel to a regional centre for specialist treatment.
“The extended preceptorship was really helpful and allowed me to experience
working as staff nurse in two different areas. Now that I’ve got one year post-
qualification under my belt, I’m really being encouraged to undertake CPD such as
ATLS, Venepuncture & Cannulation. I also hope to study for my MSc, Mentorship,
In-Flight Training and gain some management experience as well as develop some
specialist practice in Oncology which is where I would like to work at some point.
“The staff here all work really well together in a team. And, socially, I’ve been able
to make a completely new set of friends as well as keeping in touch with my friends
form the UK.
“One thing I really enjoy about living in the Island is being able to go to the beach
each day after work in the summer – it really is a special place to work.”
